Exploring Sense Reception: Breath and Nociception

When I was initially thinking about this workshop, these two topics seemed quite separate. I thought I would spend the first half of the workshop addressing breathing control and mechanics and the second speaking to responses of the brain to nociception. These were attempts to respond to questions I fielded in Foundations and Progressions this month (March 2025).

But as I was researching the biology for our discussions, I came to realize that both of these topics are surrounding sense reception.

Sense reception is fascinating work- it is well understood but working with senses is not done well in medicine (perhaps with the exception of neurologic rehabilitation).
